Honeywell Chairman and CEO Dave Cote Honored with 2016 CEO Coach of the Year Award by the American Football Coaches Foundation

Honeywell Chairman and CEO David M. Cote was honored with the American Football Coaches Foundation's (AFCF) prestigious 2016 CEO Coach of the Year award at a black tie reception at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City Monday evening. He was presented with the award by American Football Coaches Association's (AFCA) Executive Director Todd Berry.
Created in 2006, the award annually recognizes a corporate CEO who best exemplifies the outstanding leadership qualities also found in the greatest coaches in the game of football. It is the highest honor bestowed by the AFCF. Past recipients include Jeffrey R. Immelt, CEO of General Electric, former Domino's Pizza CEO David Brandon, former MidAmerican Energy Holdings CEO David Sokol, former HP CEO Mark Hurd, FedEx Corp. Chairman and CEO Frederick W. Smith, BP Capital L.P. Chairman and CEO T. Boone Pickens, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, ExxonMobil Chairman and CEO Rex W. Tillerson, AT&T Chairman and CEO Randall Stephenson, and Berkshire Hathaway Energy Chairman and CEO Greg Abel.
“Dave Cote's proven performance track record, leadership and vision for Honeywell during his 15 years as Chairman and CEO has transformed the Company into one that is held up as a prime example of one of the best run, most dynamic and innovative companies in the world today. And, Dave is revered as one of the world's best CEOs,” AFCA Executive Director Todd Berry said. “There is no question why the AFCF Board of Directors voted him our 2016 AFCF CEO Coach of the Year. This is a very deserving honor for one of the great business leaders of our time.”
The event featured a cocktail reception and seated dinner, beginning with the National Anthem led by Master Sergeant Mary Kay Messenger of the U.S. Army. Ryan Cote served as master of ceremonies for the evening, and special remarks were given by Jeff Immelt, Grant Teaff, former Executive Director of the American Football Coaches Association, Jonathan Kraft, President of the Kraft Group, Glenn Hutchins, Co-Founder and CEO of Sliver Lake and David Sokol, Chairman and CEO of Teton Capital.
Introduced by Todd Berry, Cote was welcomed to the stage to express his appreciation and share his thoughts on leadership and success. “The CEO Coach of the Year award is a tremendous tribute to the importance of leadership and driving a culture of performance with integrity. Both are core principles at Honeywell and hallmarks of our culture &endash; the same can be said for many of the most successful sports programs in the world.”
The funds raised from the CEO Coach of the Year Dinner support the AFCF's education initiatives through the American Football Coaches Association's publications, website and national convention. More than 6,000 football coaches from all levels attend the national convention and 10,000 football coaches globally benefit through personal, technical and leadership development. This important fundraising initiative has raised more than $10 million for The Foundation's mission.
